Giselle M. Girones

Giselle joined Shullman Fugate in August of 2017, after practicing at a respected Jacksonville, Florida law firm. She focuses on content, intellectual property, defamation and privacy issues.

Prior to attending law school, Giselle graduated from Florida State University with a degree in communication and sports management. While there, she had the opportunity to work for Universal Music Group as a marketing representative for various music labels. She also worked with the Sports Information Office at a large NCAA Division I university, where she drafted press releases and assisted with other media and press-related tasks.

In her media/First Amendment practice, Giselle offers advice concerning content and publication practices, defends against subpoenas, defamation, and privacy cases in state and federal courts, and prosecutes actions concerning access to government records and proceedings. Giselle also provides pre-broadcast and pre-publication review, newsgathering advice and newsroom trainings for both English and Spanish stations, newspapers, television networks, podcasts, and production companies. Giselle’s prior experience in a boutique intellectual property law firm makes her a valuable asset to Shullman Fugate, where she also litigates copyright and trademark disputes and provides advice concerning intellectual property enforcement.

Giselle is a former Fellow for both The Florida Bar’s Wm. Reece Smith, Jr. Leadership Academy and The Florida Bar’s Business Law Section and formerly served on the ABA’s IP Law Section’s CLE Board and the Jacksonville Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Board of Governors. Giselle currently serves as a member of The Florida Bar Media and Communications Law committee and is the co-chair of the ABA Forum on Communications Law’s Young Lawyers Committee as well as a member of the Forum’s Media Advocacy Workshop.
